How to Customize the Desktop
There are a host of options that provide you with personal control over the appearance of your OneTouch® desktop. While this Help topic highlights a few of the most commonly used ones, you are encouraged to explore the Options | Preferences (from the Main Menu). In addition, the Preferences Dialog Help topic provides a brief summary of each setting contained in the Preferences Dialog.
All of the following options are accessed from the Options | Preferences dialog:
Clipboard - the first Preferences | Clipboard setting allows you to enable (or disable) a "Successfully Copied" message (Display message). Note that, when enabled, this message will appear every time you copy an item to the Clipboard. The second setting (Append mode) allows you to disable (or enable) the appendable Clipboard feature of OneTouch®. When append mode is enabled, multiple text items can be copied to the Clipboard. When append mode is disabled, each text item copied to the Clipboard replaces the previous item. See Clipboard Dialog for complete details.
Hints - the Preferences | Hints settings effect the pop-up hints that describe each and every button in OneTouch®. Use the Enable option to disable (or enable) them, and use the Delay setting to specify how long the mouse cursor must stay over a button before the pop-up hints is displayed. Toolbars - use the Preferences | Toolbars settings to hide or display the Main and Local Toolbars. You can also choose to display the Main Toolbar along the top, bottom, left, or right edge of the OneTouch® Application Desktop. You can display the Local and Navigations Toolbars at the top or bottom edge of the Application Desktop. See Toolbars Dialog for complete details.
Default References - use the Default References settings to indicate your order of preference for each reference work type. For example, to make NIV your default Bible you would click "Bible" in the "Type of Reference Work" pane, then click-and-drag the NIV to the top of the list of Bible versions. The order of preference that you set here will be used whenever you use the Next/Previous version action in a window. In other words, with NIV selected as your first Bible preference, and NAS as your second, selecting "Next Version" when viewing an NIV Bible will display the current reference in NAS. In addition, the order of preference is used to determine the Bible version used when adding panes in a multi-pane Bible window. Scrolling - these settings control the behavior of the scroll bar. Separate settings are available for Bible windows and all other window types. For each of these window types you select how far the text will scroll when you click the arrows at the top and bottom of the scroll bar and, separately, how far the text will scroll when you click above or below the "thumb" (
) within the scroll bar.
