Interlinear Bible Pane

The Interlinear pane is used to display multiple forms of a Bible verse to aid in original language study. The individual lines in an Interlinear Bible display will vary based on your preferences, and the availability of original language content, but typically consist of: one line of transliterated text, one line of original language text, one line of Strong's numbers, and one line of English Bible text.

Transliterated text is an English representation of the original Greek or Hebrew, designed to aid in pronunciation. Original language text is the actual Greek or Hebrew. The Strong's numbers are unique numbers assigned to each root word, that provide access to additional reference information (e.g., Englishman's concordance, Strong's definitions, and Vine's word dictionary). The English Bible text is the corresponding Bible text in a modern-day, English translation.

Use the Interlinear Display Options to order these lines in the manner that best suits your personal study needs.

In addition to the Interlinear Display Options, there are several "toggles" that allow you to control how the Interlinear Bible is displayed:

In the New Testament, click the button to toggle between Nestle-based and Textus Receptus-based numbers. Strong's numbers that differ due to differences between the Nestle and Textus Receptus texts are indicated by angle brackets (for example, <1554>).

In the Old Testament, click the button to toggle between right-to-left and left-to-right display of the Interlinear Bible. Individuals familiar with Hebrew may prefer the right-to-left display, since that accurately reflects the Hebrew language. Others may prefer the left-to-right display since the English text is easier to read.

Words which do not appear in the Greek or Hebrew texts are displayed with a Strong's number of "9999." These words have been added for readibility in English translations, or appear in the Textus Receptus but not in earlier manuscripts. Use the button to hide or display the 9999 entries.

The Interlinear pane provides easy access to all related information throughout the OneTouch® library. Use the SMARTLinks™ portion of the NavPanel to access any and all information related to the current context (verse or Strong's number) throughout your entire library.

Note: Whenever you open a new window--whether from a cross-reference, a Smart Reference™, or even from the Main Toolbar -- the current window remains open so that you can easily return to it.
