How to Install your PC Study Bible discs in the Correct Order
OK, you have a few to a lot of PC Study Bible discs, and you need to know in what order they should be installed? In brief, the discs will be installed from the oldest to the newest discs. Our newest, and current program is version 5.
However, let’s say you have a mixture, some discs are version 4, and some are from version 5, and you might even have some that date back to version 3.
The easiest way to get the discs in the right order is to divide them up into stacks that contain only one version of PC Study Bible. Such as have one stack of disc be everything you have for version 5. Then make another stack of nothing but version 4 discs. And if you have version 3 discs, put them in a third stack.
If you have any version 2 items, these are not needed, and will not be used.
If you happen to have disc that are labeled both 3 & 4, or 4 & 5, go with the higher version number. So if you have a disc labeled 3 & 4, put that disc in the stack of version 4 discs.
Alright, now that you have the discs sorted by version, we need to put the discs in each stack in the right order.
I am going to have you do something a bit odd, we are going to start with version 4 discs. So, look through the version 4 stack and find any discs that are labeled as a Library. Such as New Reference Library, or Complete Reference Library, or some other title that has the word Library. This is going to be the first disc to install. This is the Foundation for all other discs.
If you happen to have more than one version 4 Library disc, such as a 4.1, and a 4.2 Library, the larger number, 4.2 in this case, is the newer disc. Put aside the older Library disc, and install the newest version 4 Library disc you have.
Once this disc has been installed, then we will start sorting through the stack of discs that are for version 3. (If you do not have any version 3 discs, by pass this section to the information about version 4)
Look through the version 3 discs and remove any version 3 discs labeled as a Library. Put these aside because they will not be used.
If you have any version 3 discs remaining, they are probably Add On reference works you purchased to add to your program. Just so you know, if you also have any discs that say Bonus on them, include those with the Add On's stack.
Each of the discs will have a version number on it, such as 3, 3.0, or 3.1, or 3.2, or 3.3. The 3 discs are the oldest, and the 3.3 discs are the newest of the version 3 set of discs. Put these discs in the order of oldest to newest. 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3.
Now install these version 3 Add On discs in the order from oldest to newest. Just install them one after the other. No need to attempt to Start up the Program, or Shut Down the Computer after each disc. Just install them one after the other until all the Add On Reference Work discs have been installed.
The next thing to install is the version 4 discs. Here too we need to put these discs in the right order. Just like with version 3, these version 4 disc need to be installed from oldest to the newest. Look through the version 4 discs, for the version numbers. On some of these discs, the version number might be in smaller type. Perhaps after what looks like an Abbreviation of the Reference work Name on the disc. Version numbers like 4.1, 4.2, 4.2 B, 4.2 G, 4.3 C, etc.
If you have difficulty finding this information, look to the left or right side of the opening in the middle. This is commonly where version information is located.
Put these version 4 disc in order, oldest to newest and then Install them.
Now, let’s look at the last stack of discs which are the version 5’s.
Again you will need to put the discs in the order from oldest to newest.
The first disc might be a Library, or it could be a Program, or Engine Only disc. This will be installed before any other version 5 discs.
Then Install any Add On discs. Again, these would contain any extra Reference Works you may have purchased to add to the Program.
You may, or may not have any extra Add On’s.
The version 5 discs could start with a 5.0 and end with a letter, C, D, E or F, then to a 5.1, and then last would be a 5.2, if you have it. Again, you may not, as the 5.2 is a Disc that add a few new Features to the program and has been out for about a year.
