My Greek and Hebrew fonts show up as random symbols. How can I fix this?

There are times when we have observed Windows either losing these Fonts, or they never were installed. If the Greek or Hebrew text is showing up as random gibberish or not showing up at all, then for what ever reason, there are no Greek or Hebrew fonts available to Windows. The following steps will guide you through getting them repaired in Windows.

First, we need to determine your operating system. Then we will figure out if there are is a Fonts folder in your program that got installed.

Click on the operating system below that you are running.
XP
Vista
Windows 7
Windows 8

XP

Lets see if you have a Fonts folder in PC Study Bible:

  1. Choose the START Button in the lower left corner.
  2. Now Choose, COMPUTER.
  3. This will open a screen showing you the Drives that are on the Computer.
  4. Double Click Drive C:
  5. This will open to show the contents of Drive C:
  6. Look for a folder named, PROGRAM FILES X86 if you have this folder. If not, then look for PROGRAM FILES. Double Click the folder to open it.
  7. Look for and Double Click the folder named, BIBLESOFT.
  8. There will be a folder named, PC STUDY BIBLE. Double click it to open it.
  9. Look for a folder named, FONTS, and open this folder.
  10. Important: If there is no folder named FONTS, then skip down to Section B. If the Fonts folder is there, continue with Step 10.
  11. There should be a short list of files in this Fonts folder and we need to Highlight them.
  12. There is several ways to Highlight all files in the folder. the following is one method.
  13. On the Keyboard, Pres CTRL+A
  14. This should Highlight all of the font files in the font folder.
  15. While all the files are Highlighted, Press CTRL+C
  16. Nothing will happen on the screen, but now Close everything until you are back at the Windows Desk top. (The Opening Screen of Windows)
  17. Now Choose the START Button.
  18. Choose, CONTROL PANEL.
  19. Choose FONTS.
  20. When the window for FONTS is open, press CTRL+V to paste in the Font files.
  21. MS Windows may tell you that these files already exist, and do you wish to replace them? Just choose YES for each of the Fonts until there are no more questions from Windows.
  22. Close out all screens until you are once again back to the Desk top of Windows.
  23. Start up PC Study Bible, and you should now have Greek and Hebrew fonts.

Section B

You have been directed here because no FONT folder was found on the Hard Drive. This is probably due to your current program is an Upgrade from an earlier program.
The missing FONT folder is located on the version 4.X Library disc. This disc will be labeled V4 Complete Reference Library, or Advanced Reference Library. Look through the CD's for PC Study Bible and find either disc.

If you are unable to locate your library disc, then download the attachments to this article, located below, and copy them into your computers Fonts Folder. Proceed to Step 9 to copy them to your computer.

  1. Put this Complete, or Advance Reference Library disc into the CD drive and close the drive.
  2. Windows XP should bring up a window that has a few choices.
  3. Choose the choice, OPEN FOLDERS TO VIEW FILES.
  4. This will give you a list of the contents on this CD.There should be one folder named FONTS.
  5. Double click this folder to open it.
  6. There will be several font files here. Highlight them by pressing CTRL+A
  7. Now Press CTRL+C
  8. Close the window that shows the contents of the CD.
  9. Choose the START Button.
  10. Now Choose CONTROL PANEL.
  11. Choose FONTS.
  12. When the FONTS screen opens, Press CTRL+V
  13. Windows may want you to choose Yes, or No, to reinstall these Fonts. Choose YES until all fonts are reinstalled.
  14. Close all windows until back to the MS Windows Desk top.
  15. Remove the Disc from the CD drive.
  16. Now start PC Study Bible and check for Greek and Hebrew text.

If the Greek and Hebrew text is still not showing up or is gibberish instead of Greek, or Hebrew, repeat the steps to reinstall the fonts one more time.

Vista

Lets see if you have a Fonts folder in PC Study Bible:

  1. Choose the START Button in the lower left corner.
  2. Now Choose, COMPUTER.

  1. Close all major programs, MS Word, PC Study Bible etc.
  2. Look for an Icon along the bottom of the screen that looks like 3 manila folders and click it. This will open something called File Explorer.
  3. Note – If there is no such Icon along the bottom bar, then press and hold the Windows Key and then press “E”. (The Windows Key is in the last row of keys on the Keyboard; usually two keys from the left or right of the Space Bar.) Pressing and then releasing these 2 keys together will open File Explorer.
  4. Click on the Drive C: (sometimes it has OS afterward), this will open a folder showing the contents of Drive C:
  5. Now Choose, COMPUTER.
  6. This will open a screen showing you the Drives that are on the Computer.
  7. Double Click Drive C:
  8. This will open to show the contents of Drive C:
  9. Look for a folder named, PROGRAM FILES X86 if you have this folder. If not, then look for PROGRAM FILES. Double Click the folder to open it.
  10. Look for and Double Click the folder named, BIBLESOFT.
  11. There will be a folder named, PC STUDY BIBLE. Double click it to open it.
  12. Look for a folder named, FONTS, and open this folder.
