Release Notes for Sparkling Gems From the Greek

Release Notes for the CD Sparkling Gems From the Greek (SGFTG 4+5   SBB00465SPARKLIN0707)

Known Issues

  • There is a setting in Windows Vista which prevents you from changing your default devotional from Morning and Evening (Spurgeon) to Sparkling Gems.  You need to perform the steps below, before following the steps on the green sheet that came with Sparkling Gems.
  • The solution is to turn off User Account Control in Vista:

    1. Click on the Start button.
    2. Type msconfig into the field where the cursor is blinking.  It says Start Search until you type.
    3. msconfig.exe appears above where you are typing
    4. Click on msconfig.exe
    5. The User Account Control window appears:
      Windows needs your permission to continue
      System Configuration Utility

    6. Click Continue
    7. The System Configuration window opens.
    8. Click on the Tools tab.
    9. Click on the Tool Name heading in order to put the list in alphabetical order.
    10. Click on Disable UAC in order to highlight it.  (Should you ever need to turn User Account Control back on, follow these same instructions, but click on Enable UAC instead).
    11. Click the Launch button.
    12. A window (usually black) opens, saying "The operation completed successfully."
    13. Close the black window.
    14. Click OK in the System Configuration window.
    15. Save anything you have been working on, then restart Windows.
    16. Windows restarts.
    17. On some systems, you may see a message about Normal vs. Selective Startup.  Just mark "Don't ask me again" and click OK.
    18. Once Windows is finished starting, you can following the instructions on the green sheet for setting Sparkling Gems as your default devotional.
    19. In your mind, you now face a question: "Do I want to turn User Account Control back on?" If you decide Yes, repeat the instructions above, using the Enable UAC option.
