Issue #1 - Our Daily Bread is currently out of service.
Background - Our Daily Bread used to appear as your default devotional whenever you opened PC Study Bible, but now you see the message above.
Explanation - In late August, 2009, RBC Ministries, the publisher of Our Daily Bread, changed the format of their web site so the links from PC Study Bible stopped working. Sorry for the inconvenience. We are discussing the matter with them and so far, we don't know how it will be resolved.
Workaround - Until it is resolved, you can go directly to today's Our Daily Bread reading by entering the following link in your web browser:
http://www.rbc.org/odb/odb.shtml
Once you reach that page, you can bookmark it as a favorite and it will take you to the right reading each day.
Issue #2 - Our Daily Bread does not open
Problem Summary - In version 4, you open PC Study Bible, go to the Devotional area, and click on the link for Our Daily Bread. You get an error that the page can't be found or opened. In version 5, you open PC Study Bible, click on File > Desktop Options, change to Our Daily Bread, click OK, and the Devotional area is blank.
Possible Solution - Make sure that your firewall is set to permit Joshua.exe to have full access to the internet. By default, you'll find this file in c:\Program Files\Biblesoft\PC Study Bible {or ...3 or ...4}\Program
Troubleshooting - In an effort to determine where the problem may be, open your web browser, and enter the following into the Address field:
http://www.biblesoft.com/data_files/documents/dynamic/odb/redirect2.html
This is the address used by the Our Daily Bread shortcut within PC Study Bible. The shortcut actually takes you to a Biblesoft-controlled website which then redirects you to the Our Daily Bread site. We do it this way so that if Our Daily Bread ever changes the address of their material, we can make a change on the corresponding Biblesoft-controlled site, then all the shortcuts in PC Study Bible will continue to work.
