Version 3's navigation bar provides an easy way to move from one reference work to another similar reference work, or from one article to another article within the current reference work.
The Navigation Bar always displays the current reference work, Bible version, or verse you are viewing. This will be in the left "window" (as shown here).
The right window, when applicable, will tell you where in that work you are. For instance, if you are viewing the King James Version of the Bible, the left window will read "King James Version", whereas the right window will tell you the current book, chapter, and verse – "Matthew 6:33", for example.
Again, if you are viewing Nelson's Bible Dictionary, the left window will read, "Nelson's Bible Dictionary", and the right window will tell you where you are – whichever article you are reading, in this case. When there are no other applicable items to move to, only one window will appear on the Navigation Bar.
You can click in either of these two small "windows" to change your position or what you are looking at. The left pane usually controls the reference work or Bible version you are in, and the right controls your exact location. At times, the right pane will allow you to enter in a verse reference directly. Pressing the Enter key will display that reference. Single-clicking in either the left or right windows will open a dialog box that will allow you to change your position as well.
Here's our favorite example of this powerful new feature:
1. Open a Dictionary/Encyclopedia to any article.
2. Look on the Navigation toolbar to the immediate left of the reference work name. There you will see the "Previous/Next" buttons . If these are "lighted" (versus "unlit" or "grayed out") there are other reference works like this one that have information for the current topic.
3. Click on the Previous/Next buttons to "cycle" through all of the available reference material.
There is never any need to go searching through another reference work or open another window. All of the available, related information is right at your fingertips!
