User Testimonials

"Just a word to praise your efforts on the new version 5.

It is a tremendous improvement over previous versions, especially in regard to language use.

I have three other bible software programs which I use, yours is head and shoulders above the others.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!"

Joshua DLL load failure ... missing persisted reference work path.

  1. If you are running an anti-virus program, such as Norton, you must disable this when installing PC Study Bible or any updates.  This is very important.
To determine how to disable your anti-virus, it is best to see your anti-virus program documentation or contact the vendor which made that program.
Usually, if your anti-virus program is running, it will display a little icon next to where the time (digital clock) is displayed in your Windows Start bar.  Usually this is found at the lower right-hand corner of your screen.  Put your cursor over (but don't click) each icon next to the clock; the icon will display a little message saying what it is.  When you see your anti-virus program name mentioned (Norton and McAfee are common ones), right-click on that icon and left-click the option to close or exit or disable the anti-virus program.  Often the icon will disappear or change in appearance when you have successfully disabled it.
  2. Now you’re going to reinstall from your CD.  Most people find this process easier and smoother if they read through the following steps once before actually doing them.
  3. Place your highest version Reference Library CD in your CD drive tray.  For example, if you have both a 4.0 Complete Reference Library and a 4.1 Complete Reference Library, use the 4.1.
  4. Do NOT close the tray.
  5. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard.
  6. While the Shift key is down, push the CD tray in.
  7. Keep the Shift key down for 30 seconds after the tray goes in.  If messages pop up while the Shift key is down, ignore them and keep holding that key down.
  8. After the 30 seconds pass, let go of the Shift key.
  9. Click Cancel on any messages which might have appeared on the screen.
  10. At this point, no program from the CD should pop up automatically.
  11. From your Windows taskbar, click on the START button.
  12. Choose RUN. . .
  13. Click on the BROWSE button.
  14. Select your CD-Rom Drive.
  15. Double-click on the file titled Setup.exe.
  16. Click OK in the RUN.. box.
  17. This *is* running the install again, but it won't duplicate anything; it just fixes (usually) the "missing persisted reference work path" problem.
  18. For each screen of the install, just hit the Enter key on your keyboard.
  19. *** Problem is fixed ***
  20. Start PC Study Bible.
  21. It should work now.  If you still get an error message, contact Technical Support and we'll provide a more involved solution.
