User Testimonials

"Just a word to praise your efforts on the new version 5.

It is a tremendous improvement over previous versions, especially in regard to language use.

I have three other bible software programs which I use, yours is head and shoulders above the others.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!"

What are the Release Notes for the UBS Old Testament Handbook Series?

Release Notes for the add-on UBS OT Handbook Series CD (UBSOT 4.2F-2  SBB00347UBSOTHAN0505)

  • All Release Notes listed below for the CD UBSOT 4.2F SBB00347UBSOTHAN0405 also apply to this add-on CD.
  • This CD solves the GRAMCORD parsing issue described by KB699
  • This CD adds Tutorial information by linking Help > Tutorial to downloads on the Biblesoft web site.
  • This add-on installs to two locations within your PC Study Bible:
Commentary > Word Study Commentaries > UBS OT Handbook Series
Books > Supplements > UBS OT Handbook Series
  • If you don't find the UBS OT Handbook Series at those locations, or if the names there don't look right,
Start PC Study Bible (if it's not open already)
Click on Options > Reorganize Existing Materials.
In the lower right, click on Restore All.
You may see the screen flicker or flash.
In the lower left, click on Close.
Now the UBS OT Handbook Series should appear where expected.
  • {Obscure technical note} - If your computer already has the UBS New Testament Handbook Series from a version 3 add-on CD, then installing UBSOT 4.2F will delete the files UBSsuppl.*.  This is just housekeeping.  All the information held by version 3 in UBSsuppl.* is now built into another file in version 4.  You do not lose any information.
  • Caution: The first time you run PC Study Bible after installing this add-on, do not run Options > Setup Helper.  It will fail and cause PC Study Bible to freeze.  However, if you avoid Options > Setup Helper and close PC Study Bible normally after the first run, then run PC Study Bible again, Options > Setup Helper will work fine from then on.
  • Unfortunately, if you are in the United Kingdom or Europe, and therefore have the New International Version (NIV) (Anglicized) installed, installing this CD will change your NIV to the non-Anglicized.  Contact Technical Support for the solution.
  • Release Notes for the add-on UBS OT Handbook Series CD (UBSOT 4.2F  SBB00347UBSOTHAN0405)

  • On some systems, PC Study Bible will freeze the first time you try to launch it after installing this add-on.  If that happens, use Ctl-Alt-Del to "end task" on PC Study Bible.  Once PC Study Bible is closed, you can launch it again and it will work fine.
  • The United Bible Societies (UBS) have not finished commentaries on the following 12 Old Testament books: Numbers, Judges, I Kings, II Kings, I Chronicles, II Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, and Joel.
Consequently, these 12 books are not included in this add-on.  The entire Old Testament series is expected to be completed by the publisher in the next 5 years and Biblesoft will endeavor to acquire licenses for these as they become available.
  • If your computer does not have the Today's English Version translation, this add-on will install it.
  • If your computer does not have the Revised Standard Version (RSV) translation, this add-on will install it.  Likewise, if your computer does not have the RSV Apocrypha, this add-on will install it under Books > Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha.
  • If your computer already has the UBS New Testament Handbook Series, it will be updated by this add-on.  How does this update differ from previous Biblesoft releases of the UBS NT Handbook Series?  There is no significant difference as to content.  Known typos have been corrected.  The major difference is in function: each commentary section includes a clickable link which will display the RSV and TEV, side-by-side, next to the commentary.
  • When this add-on is installed from CD over the PC Study Bible Basic Edition 4.2B, you gain the following features.   By itself, the Basic Edition does not contain these features.

  • Englishman's Concordance appears under Greek/Hebrew > By Strong's Number.
  • Strong's Greek/Hebrew Dictionary (by verse) appears under Greek/Hebrew > By Verse.  When you double-click on any Strong's number in Strong's Greek/Hebrew Dictionary (by verse), you'll see a message that there is no definition.
  • Morning and Evening appears under Books > General Books > Works of Charles Spurgeon.
  • Biblesoft Hymnal appears under Media > Music.
  • The id number of this entry is 205.
